Pixar Will Never Do Remakes?

Remakes are a part of filmmaking; some are necessary, while others are just cheap attempts to capitalize on popularity. However, when the tag “Remake” is attached, it raises expectations and often stifles creativity.

Pixar clearly wants to stay away from that path.

During the promotion of Inside Out 2, a question was raised about a live-action remake of Ratatouille, one of Pixar’s most popular animations. The answer was straightforward and might have disheartened some fans:

“No, and this might bite me in the butt for saying it, but it sort of bothers me. I like making movies that are original and unique to themselves. To remake it, it’s not very interesting to me personally.”

This stance could be a positive direction for the industry. While it won’t change everything completely, Pixar might influence a shift in mentality among fans and viewers.

Disney has recently been overusing the live-action genre, especially with below-average and abominable adaptations aimed at achieving box office success. The sheer quality of their content is declining, and fans are losing hope as their favorite animated films are practically ruined by these adaptations.
