Poacher: Big Series Hits The Right Spot On Prime Video

Poacher is now streaming on Prime Video. The big series has been created by Richie Mehta and also boasts Alia Bhatt as the executive producer.

Binged prophesied yesterday that the series will have to depend upon excellent word of mouth as the promotions were not done on a good scale. If the plans for Poacher were so big then it definitely deserved a bigger campaign which it didn’t.

Regardless, the show in its first impressions looks really really nice. The reviews are excellent and the show captures the essence of the concept very well. Imagine a situation when a human is murdered.

Even if you don’t know the murdered person, you would feel a sort of pity. Why don’t we feel the same for elephants or any other animal for that matter?

And if we truly did then people would certainly make it a point to discuss it more frequently. Poacher has many disturbing tropes that need to be discussed and enacted upon.

The pilot episode is mostly about addressing the elephant in the room. It talks about the practical problems of officers on duty, the international nature of the problem and the opening of new routes of ivory smuggling.

The introduction of all the chief characters is also on the point. It is overall a very promising start. Let’s see how the series carries forward.
