Today is Hanuman Jayanti, and on the auspicious occasion, the makers of Adipurush have released a new poster of the film. The new poster focuses on Lord Hanuman, played by Marathi film actor Devdatta Nage in Adipurush. The new poster of Adipurush showcases Hanumanji, sitting cross-legged and deep in contemplation of his beloved Shri Ram.
Interestingly, the new Adipurush poster shows a marked difference in the overall look of Lord Hanuman. For one, the new Hanumanji poster does not show the beloved Hindu God in a distinctly Islamic look, as previous posters did.
Even more importantly, this new poster of Adipurush shows Lord Hanuman wearing a ‘janeu’, the sacred Hindu thread, worn by followers of Sanatan or Hindu Dharma. Intriguingly, the ‘janeu’ on Hanumanji in Adipurush’s new poster looks like it has been photoshopped on to the image, rather than the actor actually wearing it at the time when the shot has been taken.
The presence of the ‘janeu’ on Lord Hanuman in the new Adipurush poster seems to have been added hurriedly, in response to the police case filed in a Mumbai police station, against the makers of Adipurush. The main grouse of Sanjay Dinanath Tiwari, the person who has filed the case against Adipurush and its Ram Navami poster is that none of the characters in the poster have been shown wearing the sacred ‘janeu’ – an essential element of Sanatan Dharma.
The complainant calls himself a follower and preacher of Sanatan Dharma, and he says that the religious sentiments of Hindus have been hurt by the inappropriate depiction of beloved characters from the Ramacharitamanas.
The complaint has been filed with a demand for registration of FIR under Sections 295 (A), 298, 500, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code. In addition to the police complaint, the makers of Adipurush have also made the crucial ‘janeu’ addition in response to the massive social media trolling that Adipurush has had to face. More than one social media user has commented on the omission of ‘Janeu’ on the Ramayana characters.
Nothing seems to be going right for T-Series and Om Raut’s magnum opus ‘Adipurush’. The posters and teaser of the Prabhas starrer has been subjected to massive trolling on social media. Numerous court and police cases have been filed across the country against the makers of Adipurush.
The crucial changes in the new poster of Adipurush seems to be a step in the right direction. Hopefully, the makers will speed up the reworking on the horrid VFX of the movie. Then maybe, just maybe, Adipurush will sail through to success when it releases in theatres.
Adipurush stars Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan in his Telugu debut, along with Devdatta Nage, Sunny Singh and Vatsal Sheth. The film is written and directed by Om Raut and produced by T-Series and Retrophiles. Adipurush releases in theatres on 16th June, 2023.
