Ideated as a follow up to the famous television show Police Diary, the second season will have two episodes being released every week across the year. The first of the 52-week series revolves around a Naxalite group’s quest to avenge the death of their inmates in a mass encounter by the cops. Now, the Naxalites go for the kill with a bid to murder the governor of Tamilnadu. Will they succeed?
The plot of the two episodes is too feeble to generate any interest whatsoever. Cheap sexual thrills, an unnecessarily convoluted narrative, an overdose of slow-motion shots spanning over an hour only manage to kill any excitement a spectator had for the series. The modus operandi of the Naxalites is so underwhelming that they seem more like unprepared streetside goons.
There is no tension in the proceedings, the cops just keep running from pillar to post amid a racy background score for a plot that just doesn’t move. The security personnel surrounding the governor appears so easy to surpass. The body language of the cops appears as if they have gone for a morning jog.
Something that should have been wrapped under 30 minutes is stretched to a narrative that’s twice its length. The performances are no good. Police Diary 2’s beginning seriously undermines your intelligence and sets a very bad precedent for the further episodes.
