Poor Reviews from Viewers for ‘Guntur Kaaram’ After OTT Release

Following a hiatus of one and a half years, Mahesh Babu came back to the screens with this action-packed Telugu film: Guntur Kaaram. Well, the film did not please the fans as expected, welcoming mixed responses from audiences and critics alike. And what’s even worse is that ‘Guntur Kaaram’ has been the subject of criticism following its OTT release.

Directed by Trivikram Srinivas and produced by S. Radha Krishna for Haarika and Hassinee Creations, ‘Guntur Kaaram’ has made its OTT debut today (February 9) on Netflix, streaming in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi, after its theatrical release on January 12.

Most of the viewers felt that ‘Guntur Kaaram’ experiences a letdown from the start, with criticism directed at Trivikram’s direction, lacunae in the narrative, and a perception of the film attempting to fill screen time without offering substantial content to its audience.

Thaman’s music is also criticized for not reaching the emotional heights of his previous work, dampening the cinematic experience. Some viewers have also pointed out that the emotional connection seems missing in the film. Audience reviews fall in the band of ‘okayish one-time watch,’ with some expressing dissatisfaction, considering it one of Trivikram’s worst works to date, while others acknowledge its merits, particularly Mahesh Babu’s performance in the climax.

Despite the disappointment, Mahesh Babu’s larger-than-life presence in the film is acknowledged, and the last 30-40 minutes, especially the climax, seems particularly engaging. Now it’s your say after watching ‘Guntur Kaaram’ on Netflix.
