Poor Things Director Yorgos Lanthimos Announces A New Movie

Oscar-nominated director Yorgos Lanthimos (best known for Poor Things) has announced his next film, which will be a remake of the popular South Korean fantasy comedy, Save The Green Planet. Variety first broke the news.

Lanthimos has reteamed with Element Pictures for his next feature project. The latter production house also co-produced Poor Things, starring Emma Stone. The film has earned 11 nominations at this year’s Academy Awards in categories such as Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress, and more.

Save The Green Planet will be a remake of the prominent 2003 South Korean dark fantasy comedy helmed by Jang Joon-hwan. The film’s story revolves around a young man who abducts and tortures a businessman as the former strongly believes that the latter is a part of an alien invasion. As a result, a battle of wits commences between the young man, the businessman, the captor’s girlfriend, and a private detective. The newly announced project will mark the sixth collaboration between Lanthimos and Element Pictures.

The Lobster (2015) was the first collaboration between Yorgos Lanthimos and Element Pictures. After this, the duo collaborated on other projects, like The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017), The Favourite (2018), Poor Things (2023), and Kinds of Kindness (Post-production stage).

Before Save The Green Planet, fans will get Kinds of Kindness, which also has Emma Stone in the leading role. The rest of the cast includes Willem Dafoe, Jesse Plemons, Margaret Qualley, Hong Chau, Hunter Schafer, and more talents. Stay tuned for more updates.
