The disastrous teaser of the upcoming Prabhas film ‘Adipurush’ is common knowledge for followers of Indian cinema. The film’s abominable VFX, graphics and overall look have been roundly bashed ever since the makers released the first teaser of ‘Adipurush’ on the occasion of Dussehra last year.
The heavy criticism and trolling of the Adipurush teaser from Prabhas fans had the desired effect, and the film was postponed from its original January 2023 release date, ostensibly to rework the much-maligned VFX of ‘Adipurush’. This gave hope to film enthusiasts that maybe creator Om Raut and producers T-Series will soon return with a new and improved version of the beloved Indian epic, Ramayana; with a better version of Prabhas as Ram, Kriti Sanon as Sita Mata, and Devdatta Nage as Lord Hanuman.
Alas, all their hopes have been dashed. The producers, T-Series, have just released a new poster of Adipurush this morning, on the occasion of Ram Navami, the birth anniversary of Lord Rama as per Hindu scriptures. And what do you know – the newly released poster is just as terrible as the dreadful teaser of the film!
All four — Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Sunny Singh (Laxman) and Devdatta Nage — are looking like cardboard cutouts, with faces that seem to have been plastered onto cardboard silhouettes. Hanuman still sports that distinctly Islamic look – a huge issue that film buffs had with the Adipurush teaser. Nothing seems to have changed in Adipurush’s basic look in the past five months – it’s more of the appallingly horrifying same.
The new Adipurush Ram Navami poster has again come in for heavy trolling on social media. Some are calling it a Chhota Bheem lookalike, others are labelling it as something out of Cartoon Network. Prabhas has been likened to a Bhojpuri actor, while most people have called the poster out and out bad.
Looks like nothing that Om Raut and T-Series can do will resurrect fans’ excitement and love for ‘Adipurush’. It seems like a lost cause already. The new Adipurush Ram Navami poster proves it beyond doubt.
Adipurush stars Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan in his Telugu debut, along with Devdatta Nage, Sunny Singh and Vatsal Sheth. The film is written and directed by Om Raut and produced by T-Series and Retrophiles. Adipurush releases in theatres on 16th June, 2023.
