After announcing its postponement several weeks ago, Prabhas’ buzzy futuristic thriller film ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has finally announced its new release date in theatres. Initially scheduled to release in theatres on 9th May, 2024, the ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ new release date has now been declared as 27th June, 2024. Producers Vyjayanthi Films took to social media this evening to announce the new release date for Kalki 2898 AD.

Pan-India film Kalki 2898 AD received a setback when the Election Commission announced the dates for the Indian General Elections 2024. The movie was to release in theatres on 9th May, 2024, unfortunately smack in the middle of the elections. In fact, the election dates for its primary market, the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, go to the polls on 13th May.
In view of the above, it makes sense to postpone Kalki 2898 AD release date in theatres. 27th June, 2024 is a good date to release the Prabhas – Amitabh Bachchan – Kamal Haasan – Deepika Padukone starrer in the theatres. There’s no other big film scheduled to release in that week in any language. All major films will be done with their release two weeks before, on 14th June, 2024.
Sci-fi thriller ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ boasts a stunning cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani. The movie is written and directed by Nag Ashwin. ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is produced by C. Aswani Dutt of Vyjayanthi Movies.
The makers have described ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ as an epic mythological-science fiction dystopian film, and not just a plain sci-fi film. Recently, film fans were treated to Amitabh Bachchan’s first look from Kalki 2898 AD. He plays ancient warrior Ashwatthama in the film.
Santhosh Narayanan has composed the music for ‘Kalki 2898 AD’. The cinematography is by Djordje Stojiljkovic. The film is touted to be one of the most expensive films ever in India cinema, if not ‘the’ most expensive.
