The two-film old director, slated to make a Telugu web series soon in a production house set up by a leading film personality, had a few interesting statements to make about the boon the digital medium has been to many.
Varma told Binged.com:
“Most of the times while I was pitching stories to producers, I was on the hearing end about how to write stories for the big screen. It’s very difficult to find investment in a feature film without compromising on the original nature of the script. That’s where the digital medium has emerged a boon for storytellers,”
The director finds it liberating that script-writers needn’t commercialise stories and can stay true to the essence of their idea in streaming portals.
“There’s a genuine chance for a director to prove their mettle.”
Interestingly, the filmmaker has also founded a firm, called Scriptsville, in collaboration with his sister, where young writers can fine tune their scripts and pitch it to the right minds in the industry.
