Prasar Bharati OTT: Government May Launch it Pretty Soon

People above 30 must have some fond memories associated with Prasar Bharati. The channel has been a pioneer in the beginning of the TV industry but it fell short in the digital revolution. The problem arises when they refuse to change with changing times and do not adapt to the digital medium.

But, Prasar Bharati is gearing up to enter the world of online streaming with its very own OTT platform. This move will provide viewers with an alternative to private platforms like Netflix and Hotstar which can be highly expensive sometimes.

According to some reports, the OTT platform is expected to debut in August, with the promise of providing ‘clean’ entertainment that aligns with India’s cultural and nationalist values. This may serve as an alternative to all the content that may not be suitable for family viewing due to vulgar language or themes. You know, things like Mirzapur and Rana Naidu.

Initially, Prasar Bharati plans to offer its content for free during the first year or two. When users will become satisfied and comfortable with the platform then they will start taking subscription fee.

Sri Adhikari brothers and renowned television producer and director Vipul Shah will keep the content flowing.
