And what about the content? See, Prasar Bharati can have avery different kind of content. It can never make sensational things like other platforms. So it will have very decent, intellectual and a plethora of of archival content, a senior government official revealed on Wednesday.
Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Secretary Sanjay Jaju shared that the platform will go live at the IFFI inaugural and it will be a significant step for the public service broadcaster. Unlike typical OTT platforms, Prasar Bharati’s offering will not only stream live channels but also serve as a treasure trove of India’s rich history, featuring archival photographs from the Government of India Photo Division and a range of important publications.
But what about the model for running the platform? According to the current discourses, this OTT app will largely be free. But, there will naturally be a little bit of subscription cost too. Let’s see how much that is and what feature it brings.
Prasar Bharati is also in discussions with private television channels to expand its offerings, Mr Jaju shared during a media briefing at the India Game Developer Conferenc which opened in Hyderabad.
