The 2021 hindi language romantic drama ‘Bhavai’ theatrically released on 22nd October, 2021. The film is finally available to stream on Zee5 after an year. Written and directed by Hardik Gajjar, ‘Bhavai’ stars Pratik Gandhi and Aindrita Ray in lead roles. The film is also officially Pratik Gandhi’s first lead role in Bollywood. The film also stars Flora Saini, Rajendra Gupta, Rajesh and Abhimanyu Singh in pivotal roles.
Bhavai, also known as Vesha or Swang, is a popular folk theatre form of western India, Gujarat in particular. The film is set against the backdrop of Bhavai. It’s a dramatic entertainer that narrates the story of two lovers in the village of Khakhar. Pratik Gandhi plays Raja Ram Joshi while Aindrita plays Rani. Both portray characters in Ramlila.
Bhavai is produced by Dhaval Jayantilal Gada, Aksshay Jayantilal Gada, Parth Gajjar, Richa Amod Sachan and Hardik Gajjar under the banners of Hardik Gajjar Films, Backbencher Pictures and bankrolled by Jayantilal Gada’s Pen Studios. The film caught up in a controversy that followed a title change from ‘Raavan Leela’ to ‘Bhavai’. Upon release, Bhavai opened to mixed reviews that praised Pratik Gandhi’s performance in particular.
