Prime Video Angers Subscribers Even More With Its Latest Move!

Prime Video subscribers in the US are an angry lot. As reported by Binged earlier, Prime Video has recently forced Amazon Prime subscribers in the US to pay an extra $2.99 per month if they want to continue watching its content in the ad-free format. Subscribers who refuse to pay the extra are forced to watch ads while viewing content on Prime Video.

Irked subscribers have even filed a class action lawsuit against Prime Video over what they see as breach of contract. But before anything concrete could come out of that move, Amazon Prime subscribers were stumped by another googly.

Reportedly, Amazon Prime subscribers who are not paying the extra $2.99 per month for the ad-free tier of Prime Video have been shocked to find that the streamer has even pulled Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos from the content available for them to watch on the ad-supported tier.

Thus, Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos are confined only to the new paid tier. Prime Video, across various platforms, offers only 4K, HDR10, and 5.1 surround sound in the ad-supported tier. Notably, Amazon did not give any prior notice to users about the removal of these options at the pre-paid tier launch.

Upon questioning, Prime Video executives have disclosed that Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos capabilities are only available on the ad-free option on relevant titles. The new discovery is not going down well with Amazon Prime Video users. Let’s see what their next move will be.
