Prime Video Announces New Indian Original Series, ‘BGDC’

Prime Video India has just announced a new Indian original series, titled ‘BGDC’. The streaming giant announced the new series with just an image of the title card, and a coming soon caption, nothing else – no first looks, cast intros, let alone a teaser.

For those who don’t know, BGDC is short for “big girls don’t cry” in millennial lingo. Going by the title, BGDC (Big Girls Don’t Cry) should be a female-centric series, focusing on feminine power. There have been several similar Indian shows in the past – Prime Video’s own ‘Four More Shots Please’, and Netflix’s ‘Bombay Begums’.

The cast certainly points to the fact that BGDC will follow the lives of strong women and how they go about tackling myriad issues in their lives. There’s Pooja Bhatt leading the cast, along with Raima Sen, Suchitra Pillai, Loveleen Mishra, Dalai, Zoya Hussain, Himanshi Pandey, Aneet Padda, Tenzin Lhakliya, Adytya Raj, Vidushi, and Shataf Figar.

There’s also Avantika Vandanapu in the primary cast of BGDC. The Indian – American actress recently made a mark as the sassy Karen Shetty in the ‘Mean Girls’ reboot. Telugu film lovers will know her from her child artiste role in 2016 film Brahmotsavam, where she co-starred with superstar Mahesh Babu.

Nitya Mehra is the director of BGDC, along with Sudhanshu Saria, Kopal Naithani and Karan Kapadia as the episode directors. Sudhanshu Saria is the showrunner as well as the writer of the show. Ashi Dua, Nitya Mehra, Karan Kapadia are co-producers.
