Amazon Prime Video has bagged the streaming rights for the ecological thriller ‘Swarm‘. It is said that the platform will introduce the show to sub-Saharan Africa.
The show is based on the novel of the same name written by Frank Schätzing. It stars actors like Cécile de France, Alexander Karim, Leonie Benesch, Joshua Odjick and many more. The various episodes are directed by various directors like Barbara Eder, Luke Watson, Philipp Stölzl.
The Swarm was originally distributed by ZDF. And most probably, after the deal, Prime Video itself will distribute the show in other regions as well.
The Swarm has eight episodes in total. It has been described as a show about the delicate interconnectedness of human life and earth. Human beings, all of a sudden, face a threat that is able to extinguish all human life and they are fearful while confronting such a monstrous danger. Scientists give strange theories to cope up with the danger and humanity is positioned under doubt. It soon becomes clear that an intelligent life force under the sea is actually controlling all life force above the surface and there is no escape. The show is rated quite well and audiences are full of praise. This is the epitome of the new emerging genre of ecogical thrillers.
The German show is produced by Frank Doelger, who is also the producer of Game Of Thrones. The Swarm was a huge hit in Germany’s ZDF networks and the makers hope it will repeat the success under Prime Video as well.
