Prime Video Expands Its Channel! Adds Kannada OTT NammaFlix On It

Amazon Prime Video has a unique habit of add-on subscriptions. MUBI India, Hayu, Hoichoi, Eros Now and a few more were already present on its platform but now the streaming giant has added the 10th channel on its platform.

A few weeks back, we talked about how OTT platforms tend to ignore Kannada content and audience and looks like Prime Video has taken a step forward on that concern. Although the ideal step should be to make Kannada originals, Prime Video has acquired NammaFlix which is an OTT platform dedicated to Kannada content.

Prime Video is providing the subscription at the cost of Rs 299/year currently but if we take the case of Disney+Hotstar, which provides content from HBO Max and Hulu without any extra charge then this step by Prime Video definitely seems ridiculous.

NammaFlix is the only dedicated Kannada OTT platform and provides classics along with new content as well.

“At Prime Video we have worked hard to bring the best of local stories to consumers across the country, expanding the linguistic palette of the Indian video viewing customer. Over the years, we have seen an increasing appreciation for Kannada content, with viewers across the country loving Kannada films on our service. We are now delighted to add NammaFlix to Prime Video Channels so that customers who enjoy Kannada stories can watch more of what they love. We are certain that Prime Members across the country will value the easy access with add-on subscriptions to NammaFlix’s library that offers Kannada content across genres and formats.” said Chaitanya Divan, head of Prime Video Channels & Sports, Amazon Prime Video India on launch.
