As per latest reports, Amazon Prime Video has acquired ‘Backwards In Heels’, a Skydance TV (‘Garce and Frankie’, ‘Reacher’, ‘Foundation’) series produced by Jennifer Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions.
Academy Award nominee Richard LaGravenese (‘P. S. I Love You’, ‘The Fisher King’) will write and direct ‘Backwards In Heels’ that is set in post World War II New York City and is based on the Barbizon Hotel, a female only residential hotel for young women who came to NYC for professional opportunities. The 23-story hotel which was built in 1927 has design elements inspired from Italian Renaissance, Gothic revival and Islamic decorative elements.
‘Backwards In Heels’ will tell some inspiring stories about the glamourous women who stayed in Barbizon Hotel situated on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. This unique hotel was such that males were allowed only on the ground floor and there were strict rules and regulations to be followed. Some very well known guests who have stayed at the hotel include Lauren Bacall, Betty Buckley, Joan Crawford, Rita Hayworth, Grace Kelly and many more.
‘Backwards In Heels’ will be produced by Jennifer Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, and Benny Medina for their Nuyorican Productions and Julie Goldstein. David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Bill Bost will produce for Skydance TV.
Lopez will next be seen in Netflix films ‘The Mother’ and ‘Atlas’ both of which she is starring in and producing.
