Overcompensating, Benito Skinner’s comedy series, has been ordered at Prime Video. The series has been in development at Amazon since November 2022. Skinner serves as its creator. He also stars in it. In addition, A24 and Jonah Hill’s Strong Baby Productions will co-produce the project.
Skinner’s Overcompensating is an ensemble comedy that explores the chaotic and wild college life of Benny (played by Skinner). The show’s protagonist is a homecoming king and closeted former football star. His college journey takes a wild turn after he befriends Carmen, an outsider who gives her all to fit in. The duo of Benny and Carmen go through horrible hookups, fake IDs, and flavoured vodka while receiving important guidance occasionally from Benny’s sister and her boyfriend, who is considered a legend on the campus. Hailed as a deeply personal and fun entry, the series will showcase the lengths to which the main characters overcompensate while trying to figure out who they really are.
Skinner is best known for his viral sketches and characters, a part of Benny Drama. He has worked with many prominent celebrities, such as Kourtney Kardashian, Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, and more.
Benito Skinner also writes and co-executively produces the show with Jonah Hill, Ali Goodman, and Matt Dines. Charli XCX will serve as one of the show’s executive music producers. Prime Video’s Overcompensating is yet to receive an exact release window. Stay tuned for more updates.
