A live-action adaptation of the beloved French cartoon “Totally Spies!” is currently in development at Amazon, with Will Ferrell on board as an executive producer. The project, aimed at young adults, will bring the iconic trio Clover, Alex, and Sam into the real world as they juggle their lives as international spies with the challenges of their first year in college.
This new series is a collaboration between Amazon MGM Studios and Banijay Kids & Family. It is overseen by Amazon’s head of Pan-English original series, Rola Bauer. While no writers or cast have been announced yet, the project promises to retain the adventurous spirit of the original animation.
Alongside Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum and Alix Taylor will executive produce through their production company, Gloria Sanchez Productions. Banijay Kids & Family CEO Benoît Di Sabatino will also serve as an executive producer.
Created by Vincent Chalvon-Demersay and David Michel, the original “Totally Spies!” has enjoyed widespread popularity since its debut in 2001. The show has produced nearly 200 episodes, a prequel film titled “Totally Spies! The Movie,” and a spinoff series, “The Amazing Spiez!” Its latest, seventh season premiered in France and will soon be broadcast on Cartoon Network in the U.S., with the entire series available on Amazon’s Prime Video.
