Prime Video has renewed its new series ‘Gen V’ for a Season 2. The streamer announced the renewal even before Gen V has completed its Season 1 run. The final episode of Gen V will premiere on Prime Video worldwide on 3rd November, 2023.
For those who don’t know, Gen V is a spinoff series of Prime Video’s wildly popular superhero series ‘The Boys’. Gen V became an instant hit as soon as it premiered on Prime Video. It is currently the No. 1 series on Prime Video in over 130 countries. Given the popularity of both The Boys as well as ‘Gen V’, the Season 2 renewal for the latter comes as no surprise to followers of streaming entertainment.
Gen V is set in the backdrop of the fictional Godolkin University, a college for superheroes within the world of ‘The Boys’. The series follows the young adult superheroes aka supes, as they are tested in battle royal challenges at the Godolkin University School of Crimefighting, run by Vought International.
The official description of Gen V reads – “You know what happens when supes go bad, but not all superheroes start out corrupt. Beyond the typical college chaos of finding oneself and partying, these kids are facing explosive situations ….literally. As the students vie for popularity and good grades, it’s clear that the stakes are much higher when super powers are involved. When the group of young supes discover that something bigger and sinister is going on at school, they’re put to the test: Will they be the heroes or the villains of their stories?”
Season 1 of Gen V stars Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Lizze Broadway, Shelley Conn, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sean Patrick Thomas, and Marco Pigossi, along with Clancy Brown and Jason Ritter. Jessie T. Usher, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and P.J. Byrne reprise their roles from ‘The Boys’.
The series showrunners are Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters. Eric Kripke, showrunner of ‘The Boys’ executive produces ‘Gen V’.
