Just a few weeks after the debut of season 2 of ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’, Amazon Prime Video has renewed the global hit series for a 10 episode third season.
According to official data from Amazon Prime Video, ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ has been a breakout success, performing particularly well with young women viewers. In fact, season two of ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ is one of the 10 most watched seasons of any series ever on the service. The second season also more than doubled season one’s viewership within three days of launch.
Season three has been officially greenlit ahead of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes but the production on the same will not begin until after labor negotiations with those unions have been resolved.
Jenny Han and Sarah Kucserka will serve as showrunners for season 3 of ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ while also serving as executive producers alongside Karen Rosenfelt. Hope Hartman, Mads Hansen, and Paul Lee will executive produce for wiip. The series is jointly produced by Amazon Studios and wiip.
Based on the best-selling book trilogy from Jenny Han, ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ is a multigenerational drama that hinges on a love triangle between one girl and two brothers, the ever-evolving relationship between mothers and their children, and the enduring power of strong female friendship. It is a coming-of-age story about first love, first heartbreak, and the magic of that one perfect summer.
Season three of ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ will launch soon only on Amazon Prime Video worldwide. Meanwhile season two is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video with new episodes weekly until the season finale on 18th August, 2023.
