Prime Video Sets Cast For The Narrow Road to the Deep North Series

After the resounding success of The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, Prime Video has commissioned another new series in Australia. Titled ‘The Narrow Road To The Deep North’, the series will be an adaptation of Richard Flanagan’s Booker prize-winning novel of the same name. The love story and war drama is set in the backdrop of the World War II.

Prime Video has been betting big on Australian originals in recent times. Three Prime Video Australian Originals that it premiered in 2023 have been hits. They include Class of ’07, The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, and Deadloch. The Narrow Road to the Deep North is the next Australian original that Prime Video has big plans for.

The cast and crew for the series are a dream for content creators. Hot property Australian actor Jacob Elordi plays the lead in the mini-series. Elordi will play the character of Australian soldier Dorrigo Evans, who is captured by the Japanese during World War II. The prisoner of war is used as slave labour on the construction of the Thailand-Burma Railway by the Japanese.

Australian actor Jacob Elordi is everywhere these days. He first came into the public eye with his lead role in Netflix’s ‘The Kissing Booth’. He followed it up with his breakout role in HBO’s Euphoria. Buzzy films Saltburn and Priscilla (in which he plays Elvis Presley) are his other hot projects.

Besides Jacob Elordi, The Narrow Road To The Deep North stars Irish actor Ciarán Hinds as the older Dorrigo. Olivia DeJonge (Elvis), Heather Mitchell (Upright), Thomas Weatherall (Heartbreak High), Show Kasamatsu and Simon Baker form the rest of the cast.

The mini-series The Narrow Road to the Deep North has the exciting crew of screenwriter Shaun Grant and director Justin Kurzel at the helm. The duo has previously worked together on Cannes-acclaimed film ‘Nitram’. Kurzel has directed the prestigious film Macbeth, Assassin’s Creed, Apple TV Plus series Shantaram, among others. Grant has written David Fincher’s acclaimed Netflix series ‘Mindhunter’, film Penguin Bloom, among others.
