Prime Video to Feature Star Trek Actor William Shatner’s Space Flight

OTT giant Amazon Prime Video will soon stream a one-hour special titled ‘Shatner in Space’ based on the recent space flight which comprised veteran Canadian American actor William Shatner as one of the crew members on Amazon founder Jezz Bezos’ Blue Origin’s aerospace vessel.

The special is slated to commence streaming on the Amazon Prime Video OTT platform from 15th December in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, and New Zealand regions. While additional regions, most likely including India, will get the special sometime in early 2022.

‘Shatner in Space’ would feature an inside look at the happenings before, during, and after William Shatner’s Blue Origin landmark spaceflight.

Regarding his experience, the actor had said that: “My time in space was the most profound experience I could have ever imagined. This special documenting my journey gives a dramatic view of that experience, and my hope is that it inspires the world to see we must go to space to save Earth.”

For the unversed, William Shatner, who is also friends with Jeff Bezos, had boarded the Blue Origin NS-18 flight that was launched on 13th October 2021. It was a sub-orbital spaceflight with a duration of 10 minutes and 17 seconds. The other three crew members onboard were VP Audrey Powers, former NASA engineer Chris BosHuizen, and Glen de Vries.

William Shatner is globally renowned for essaying the role of Captain James T. Kirk of the fictional space exploration vessel USS Enterprise in the cult Star Trek movie series. The 90-year-old actor became the oldest person to fly to space in the Blue Origin flight. The previous record was held by the 82-year-old Wally Funk on another Blue Origin space flight.
