A couple of days back, OTT platform Amazon Prime Video announced that its upcoming documentary series ‘Rainbow Rishta’ will arrive on 7th November on the streaming service. And now, Prime Video has also unveiled the official trailer (attached below) of the upcoming docuseries. Let’s see what it tells us about the unscripted series.
‘Rainbow Rishta’ docuseries narrates six heartwarming stories and a sneak-peak into the lives of some members of the LGBTQIA+ community and their desires and aspirations, etc. It centers around the real-life experiences and stories of Trinetra Haldar, Aishwarya Ayushmaan, Daniella Mendonca, Aneez Saikia, Sanam Choudhary, Soham Sengupta, Suresh Ramdas, and Sadam Hanjabam. The show is described as six stories of finding and accepting love.
‘Rainbow Rishta’ trailer shows the aforementioned group of people from different walks of life and from regions of the country as they candidly talk about how they feel and how they are seen, amongst other things. For instance, the trailer starts off with trans woman activist and celebrity Trinetra Haldar where she articulates her views about how she deserves to have love where it feels equal.
Incidentally, this is Amazon Prime Video’s second creative collaboration with Vice Studios as they had previously partnered for the critically acclaimed reality docuseries ‘Cinema Marte Dum Tak’, which came out earlier this year.
‘Rainbow Rishta’ has been directed by Jaydeep Sarkar, who had lent his writing skills for films like ‘Shaurya’ besides also directing a short segment in the Netflix series ‘Feels Like Ishq’.
