Prime Video’s ‘Batman: Caped Crusader’ Series Reinvents Harley Quinn

Batman: Caped Crusader will reinvent Harley Quinn. Wait! Reinvent seems like a small word here. Let’s just say Bruce Timm has entirely flipped the 32-year long history associated with Joker’s psychotic girlfriend in the upcoming animated series.

Creator of the iconic ‘Batman: The Animated Series’, Timm also serves as creator of ‘Caped Crusader’. In his recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Timm revealed that fans would witness a completely different version of Harley Quinn in the forthcoming animated series.

According to Timm, Caped Crusader’s Harley would be scarier and more grim than all other previous portrayals of the DC character. On the other hand, her psychiatrist persona would be chirpy and outspoken.

Even after all these years, Harley Quinn is still typically defined by her relationship with ‘The Clown Prince of Gotham’. Timm wanted to change that. Which is why, Caped Crusader’s Harley will not be Joker’s girlfriend. The creator has replaced her weirdness and goofiness with darkness. Instead of being a jester-themed Joker’s sidekick, Harley will utilise her psychiatry as her primary weapon. But what makes Harley Quinn’s new characterisation intriguing is that she will be an Asian American individual.

Batman: Caped Crusader will arrive on Prime Video on August 1. Stay tuned for more updates.
