Prime Video in March last year announced an original web series ‘Dupahiya’ and almost after a year later the streamer has finally set a premiere date for it.
In the announcement video it is revealed that ‘Dupahiya’ is set in a fictional village which is touted to be India’s only crime free village where no crime has been committed for past 25 years. But this record is broken when a motorbike is stolen.
This motorbike was supposed to be a gift for a groom. The bride’s father had sold his cattle to gift it to his to-be son-in-law, as he wished for it. He had to fulfil the wish for his daughter who wanted to get married to a city boy and move to Mumbai to achieve her dreams.
Written by Chirag Garg and Avinash Dwivedi who have co-created the show with Salona Bains Joshi and Shubh Shivdasani, ‘Dupahiya’ is directed by Sonam Nair (‘Masaba Masaba’, ‘Kaafir’, ‘Gippi’). The series stars Gajraj Rao, Renuka Shahane, Bhuvan Arora, Sparsh Srivastava, Shivani Raghuvanshi, and Yashpal Sharma.
Produced by Salona Bains Joshi and Shubh Shivdasani under their Bombay Film Cartel banner, ‘Dupahiya’ will start streaming only on Prime Video from 7th March, 2025.
