When Prime Video announced the new dubbing of Takeshi’s Castle it had several challenges. The first and biggest challenge was to overcome the nostalgia factor that comes bundled with Takeshi’s Castle. As you may already know, Takeshi’s Castle used to be an insanely popular kid’s show which was dubbed by Javed Jaffrey.
But things took new turns and we all are aware of it. Prime Video launched 10 episodes of Takeshi’s Castle this Friday. Well, if the series failed to garner the OG 1990s and 2000s kids then they still had a chance to attract to young audience that happens to be 2010s kids.
Did that happen? Well, even if it did, it is not really good. Because in the first episode itself, we see jokes like “Pixelated blue film” and many other double-meaning remarks which is certainly not something you would wanna expose your kids to.
So Prime Video had at least one assured viewer base that could assimilate well into the viewers of their new experiment but alas…
Takeshi’s Castle indeed targets only the audience base of the 90s and 2000s kids who are mostly adults. But, they lack time and even interest to delve into such a show anymore.
As of now, the series doesn’t seem to have done anything extraordinary in terms of views but let’s watch out.
