The teaser of ‘The Peripheral’ is out and it will be streaming on Amazon Prime Video from the 21st of October. The show is a sci-fi thriller and is directed by Alrick Riley and Vincenzo Natali. It is adapted from William Gibson’s book of the same name. The show stars Chloe Mortez and does not have a huge starcast. Yet it is being dubbed in 5 major Indian languages.
This is a lesson to learn for Netflix India that does not pay any heed to the audiences demanding K-dramas dubbed in Indian languages. Watching the show with original audio and having to look for subtitles every now and then is not a very comfortable job for most of the viewers. Dubbing is a tiresome and lengthy process but it is totally worth it as it attracts more audiences.
Amazon Prime Video did a great job by dubbing the Indian show Suzhal in 5 Indian and a few foreign languages. This is a great step for expanding the viewership and making a steady entrance to the international market too.
But another show from Amazon Prime goes in a completely different direction. ‘Crashcourse’ with such a huge starcast is only available in Hindi and not even in any other Indian languages. Non-Hindi-speaking Indians too have to miss such a show just because of the lack of dubs and multiple audios. Even a show like ‘The Peripheral’ which is not that talked about and does not have that buzz around is being dubbed in so many languages. Amazon Prime Video has to show more consistency regarding offering more audio in other languages.
