Prime Video’s ‘Traitors’: Nagging Contestants In A Royal Set Up

Prime Video has launched the trailer for its upcoming original reality show ‘Traitors’ hosted by Karan Johar. Indian adaptation of BAFTA and Emmy winning reality show of the same name, ‘The Traitors’ is all set to launch on Prime Video on 12th June, 2025 with new episodes dropping every Thursday at 8pm.

According to the trailer, ‘The Traitors’ is set in a royal Suryagarh Palace in Rajasthan where 20 contestants will try to win the show and claim the cash prize. Among them lurk the chosen Traitors, whose mission is to eliminate the Innocents one by one under the cover of night, all while keeping their true identities hidden. The remaining players, the Innocents, must join forces to expose the Traitors.

While that’s the whole jist of the show what the trailer shows is a constant blabber about who’s the traitor and who’s not with everyone blaming the other. There’s a lot of bold proclamations, fiery exchanges, secretive plotting, shocking accusations, and emotional breakdowns happening throughout the trailer making it a full on masala drama loaded with gossips.

Infact Karan Johar doesn’t have to do much to fuel the fire as the contestants take charge themselves and are not ready to stop. But overall, despite claiming to be based on a different concept, ‘The Traitors’ feels like any other unscripted show of modern era where fights take center stage as egos clash.

All said, the show has some pretty interesting participants who will definitely bring in a lot of viewership for Prime Video. These include Purav Jha, Karan Kundrra, Harsh Gujral, Ashish G Vidyarthi, Apoorva aka Rebel Kid, Uorfi Javed, Jasmine Bhasin, Lakshmi Manchu, Raftaar, Elnaaz Norouzi, Nikita Luther, Anshula Kapoor, Raj Kundra, Janvi Gaur, Maheep Kapoor, Jannat Zubair, Mukesh Chhabra, Sudhanshu Pandey, Sahil Salathia, and Sufi Motiwala.

Directed by Nishant Nayak and written by Juhi Goklani, ‘The Traitors’ runs on the themes of manipulation, mind games, backstabbing, and betrayal and it will be interesting to see whether this one turn out to be intriguing or just cringe like many other reality dramas.

Based on a format created and developed by IDTV and RTL Netherlands, the Indian adaptation of ‘The Traitors’ is produced by BBC Studios India Productions and will start streaming on Prime Video from 12th June onwards, followed by a weekly episode every Thursday at 8 PM.
