Who could have thought that an unassuming American insurance agent from Baltimore would eventually become a bestselling author of a series of intricately written spy-crime page-turning thrillers?
Who could have thought that a US Army reject would write his debut novel ‘The Hunt for Red October’ – a riveting under-water submarine thriller, which would eventually be adapted into a motion picture starring Sean Connery and helmed by blockbuster filmmaker John McTiernan (Director – Predator, Diehard)?
Incidentally, this was the film that also marked the debut of Tom Clancy’s extremely popular character – Jack Ryan. In the 1990 film ‘The Hunt for Red October’, the character of Jack Ryan was essayed by Alec Baldwin.
However, the character got a new lease of life, particularly amongst next-gen viewers, after its appearance in Amazon Prime Video’s original web series featuring actor-director John Krasinski (The Office, A Quiet Place) playing the titular role of the CIA analyst. Owing to its immense success, the series has already been renewed for a third season.
Jack Ryan comes under the ambit of Tom Clancy’s decades-old fictional Ryanverse franchise, which also features another recurring character – John Clark.
The upcoming Amazon Prime Video movie ‘Without Remorse’ starring Michael B. Jordan is based on Tom Clancy’s 1993 book of the same name, which revolved around John Clark’s origin story. The film has been helmed by ‘Sicario 2’ director Stefano Sollima.
Michael B. Jordan is best known for his roles in the Rocky spinoff boxing film ‘Creed’ (also starring Sylvester Stallone) besides playing the primary antagonist in Marvel’s superhero film ‘Black Panther’ (starring the Late American actor Chadwick Boseman). Jordan will next be seen in Academy Award-winning filmmaker Danny Boyle’s action-adventure film ‘Methuselah’.
Coming back to ‘Without Remorse’ – the film’s trailer, which was released a few weeks back, implicitly assured a revenge-driven action extravaganza.
The film ostensibly follows a former Navy SEAL (Jordan), who is recalled by the government to avert an impending disaster. In his quest to find his wife’s murderer, he inadvertently exposes a large international conspiracy.
The highly anticipated film ‘Without Remorse’ is slated to release on Amazon Prime Video on April 30, 2021.
