It has been sometime since we saw superstar Prithvira Sukumaran act in a supernatural horror film. The last film he acted in, of the aforementioned genre was ‘Ezra’ which released back in 2017, almost 4 years ago. The actor has successfully portrayed the lead protagonist in several films of the supernatural horror genre such as ‘Anandabhadram’ and ‘Vellinakshatram’, but this time he will be playing a different character in the upcoming supernatural horror flick ‘STAR’.
Joju George is playing the lead character in this film and according to the trailer he is the father of two children. But his wife lost their oldest child due to stillbirth and according to the narrator (and many others shown in the film trailer), the stillbirth happened because the baby was being born during the period of the “evil moon”. For some unknown reason, Joju’s wife is slowly losing her mind, which we think is because of the stillborn (if this was her firstborn, then why lose it this late after her two other children are like around 10 years old?). Prithviraj Sukumaran is introduced at the end of the trailer as a doctor (a psychiatrist, most likely) who is talking to Joju George about his wife’s “condition”.
Prithviraj Sukumaran has made a lot of cameo roles in his near 2 decade career, but this upcoming cameo is the first time in a supernatural horror film, or rather, it is the first time he will have a reduced role in the above mentioned genre film as he usually has a bigger role, even when he is not the protagonist. Hence this casting of Prithviraj feels ironic and exciting at the same time.
The film is expected to come to theaters during this weekend, on April 9th 2021. For a trailer which does not explain much about the story of the film, it has some brilliant visuals. Check it out below:
