Prithviraj Sukumaran and political thrillers have been a lethal combination this year. After Jana Gana Mana’s blockbuster success at the box office and Netflix India, the actor’s next theatrical political thriller Theerppu released at the movies on 25th August, 20222. The OTT rights of Theerppu has been bought by Disney+Hotstar.
The official page of Disney+Hotstar Malayalam declared the news today. Although the date of streaming is unclear, it is for sure to be available sometime in October. Theerppu met with lacklustre response at the theatres, but some of the reviews were positive to mixed. However, looking at how Jana Gana Mana was recieved by the streaming audience, one could never say never. Theerppu might just replicate its success. Theerppu follows a group of four friends’ unplanned reunion after 15 years. It’s a locked-room horror show with grudges kept, secrets kept and revenge transpired.
This Malayalam language political thriller stars Prithviraj Sukumaran and Isha Talwar in lead roles. The film is produced by Vijay Babu, Rathish Ambat and Murali Gopy. Theerppu is Rathish Ambat’s second directorial venture after Kammara Sambhavam (2018). Murali Gopy penned the script and Gopi Sundar composed the music. Stay tuned for more updates.
