By now most of you should have heard this – the second remake of ‘Andhadhun‘ AKA ‘Bhramam‘ is releasing directly for streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The Malayalam feature follows its Telugu predecessor’s (AKA ‘Maestro’) steps in releasing a direct-to-OTT ‘Andhadhun’ remake, even if it was the current Covid-19 climate that forced this release. Upon Bhramam’s premiere, which will happen next weekend, the movie will become a landmark feature for both Amazon Prime Video and its lead actor, Prithviraj Sukumaran.
When Bhramam finally releases, this movie will be Prithviraj’s third Malayalam movie to be released back-to-back directly for streaming this year, equalling Fahadh Faasil’s record. What many people do not know is that these three films – ‘Cold Case’, ‘Kuruthi’ and ‘Bhramam’ are all movies which released (or will release) on Amazon Prime Video. So when ‘Bhramam’ releases next month, Prithviraj will be the first actor to have three Malayalam films premiere back-to-back on the same streaming platform – Amazon Prime Video.
In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised if Prithviraj is the first Indian actor to have three films premiere back-to-back on the same streaming platform after Bhramam makes its Amazon Prime release. And as far as we can tell, no other Indian actor has managed the feat yet. We definitely know that Prithviraj is also the first South Indian actor to release three films back-to-back directly for streaming on the same platform in 2021 (at the very least).
Prithviraj’s upcoming direct-to-OTT release, Bhramam, is expected to premiere on Amazon Prime Video, next month, on October 7th 2021.
