We reported yesterday that Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Malayalam language political thriller Theerppu streaming rights were bagged by Disney+Hotstar. The film released at the movies on 25th August, 20222. Although the exact date of streaming was unclear yesterday, there seems to have a clarity regarding the same today. The film is said to stream on the platform quite a bit too early, i.e on September 30th.
Theerppu met with cold response at the theatres, but some of the reviews were positive to mixed. However, all eyes are now on Theerppu to see if it might just replicate Jana Gana Mana’s success on Netflix India. Theerppu follows a group of four friends’ and their unplanned reunion after 15 years. It’s a locked-room horror show with grudges kept, secrets kept and revenge transpired.
This Malayalam language political thriller stars Prithviraj Sukumaran and Isha Talwar in lead roles. Produced by Vijay Babu, Rathish Ambat and Murali Gopy, Theerppu is Rathish Ambat’s second directorial venture after Kammara Sambhavam (2018).
