Karni Sena has again forced a film to alter their title. This time it is Akshay Kumar’s Prithviraj which is now titled “Samrat Prithviraj“.
The film was trapped in controversy right from its announcement when cinephiles were not particularly happy with the casting of Akshay Kumar.
After that, the trailer was brutally trolled for sheer lack of dedication from Akshay’s end. But when the film is just days away from getting released, the title is now changed.
For the unversed, Karni Sena is an organisation that deals in the protection of the Rajput community and its glorious history. If you remember then during Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s Padmaavat, they created immense political turmoil and the film had to suffer a lot of delays/controversies.
Finally, the title was changed from Padmaavati to Padmaavat and we know the majestic performance of the film at the box office.
Initially titled Prithviraj, Karni Sena found it offensive to call such a great king by only his first name. In response to the same, Yash Raj Films has officially announced that the film is titled “Samrat Prithviraj”.
With just a few days left for the film, Yash Raj Films may have to invest significant resources and energy to carry forward the formalities which will follow.
Regardless, Samrat Prithviraj will hit the theatres on 3rd June.
