Priyan Oottathilanu: Another South-Indian Food Themed Film Drops First Look!

The first look of Mollywood’s upcoming food themed, family drama comedy (we think), Priyan Oottathilanu, was dropped, a couple of days ago. The first look drop was done by Nivin Pauly, one of the biggest stars in Malayalam cinema currently, through his online profiles on multiple social media platforms. And like many recently dropped South Indian films such as Bheemasena Nalamaharaja, Middle Class Melodies and The Great Indian Kitchen, Priyan Oottathilanu also looks like a movie which will revolve around the theme of food.

The first look poster of Priyan Oottathilanu is a very common picture seen by many in Kerala (most of South India even) – a plate with two plain Uttapam styled dosa (one partially eaten) alongside its universal accompaniments – Sambar and Coconut Chutney. Oh! And don’t forget the tea either. This typical breakfast plate photo does not tell us much about the script or the possible storyline we will see in the movie, but one thing is definitely clear – this won’t be the first time we will see food when it comes to Priyan Oottathilanu – be it in another poster, trailer or within the movie itself.

The movie is expected to only drop in summer of 2021, even though reports suggest that the movie is close to completing its post production stage and will start on its marketing. The movie is written by Abhayakumar K and Anil Kurian and is directed by Santhosh Thrivikraman. PM Unnikrishnan is the director of photography, and Joel Kavi, the editor while Lijin Bambino will compose the music. Santhosh Thrivikraman of WOW Cinemas is bankrolling this film. Sharafudheen and Nyla Usha will be portraying the leads in Priyan Oottathilanu.

Not all food themed films do that well, but many do watch these films for the aesthetic representation of these well known foods; not to mention, it’s pleasing to watch food on the big wide screen. We can’t wait for the trailer to drop (even if we don’t know what the movie is about) and hopefully, it will be as “appetizing” as the first look poster.
