Producer Blames Platforms For Not Spending Enough On Adult Animation!

Executive Producer Marge Dean, who runs Skybound Entertainment’s animation studios, had said that despite producing really good shows, Amazon Prime Video spends a remarkably lesser amount for adult animation shows.

With so little promotion and so little production cost, ‘Invincible’ has managed to grow a huge fan base through word of mouth. The success of the show is remarkable, yet, after so much ensuring success, there is no growth in the production value still.

Marge Dean also says that Prime Video spends twenty times more per episode on ‘The Boys’ than on ‘Invincible’. He also added, “I love Amazon, they’re great, but there was barely any marketing for this show.” There is a significant growth in the adult animation industry in the past few years. With the influence of anime and the birth of the new generation audiences, shows like ‘Rick and Morty’, ‘Bojack Horseman’ and ‘Invincible’ have seen tremendous success.

The first season of the animated show premiered in 2021 and it was a big hit. It also made its place among the top five alongside The Boys. The second season will be premiering this November. Fans are excited for the show but for Marge, there is still a long way to go before adult animation gets its due.

Dean says, with filmmakers like Guillermo Del Toro, Wes Anderson, the landscape for the genre is slowly changing in a better direction and platforms like Prime Video should now consider spending more on these adult animated shows.
