Professional Fighters League (PFL), a US-based mixed-martial arts (MMA) organization, has released it’s new over-the-top (OTT) streaming service. The launch of the app called PFL MMA app was first reported by SportsPro.
The PFL MMA app will be free to access as it is primarily going to be an ad-supported (and supported through sponsorship) OTT service. That said, there will be micro-transactions set up in the app for gaming and exclusive content such as live championship finals.
Users will be given year-round access to the league’s entire content section including but not limited to behind-the-scenes footage, original programming from PFL Studios (the organisation’s production company) and older classic fights. The OTT platform was created by collaborating with video app developer ViewLift and is available on Apple TV, Roku, Fire, Android and iOS devices.
PFL’s chief executive, Peter Murray said that with the launch of their new app, they can finally cater to their international fans who have been eagerly waiting for a platform to watch live broadcasts. The growing global demand for the sport is finally getting a good response from the organizers and fans around the world can access premium content anywhere, whenever they want at their own leisure.
Professional Fighters League is a media & content company and is hoping to make their app PFL MMA, the global destination for the sport. They are trying to innovate and reinvigorate the MMA by providing inspiring backgrounds about the fighters and gripping stories behind the action inside the cage.
PFL had previously announced a new multi-year broadcast deal in Russia with Telesport agency. The deal will begin in 2021, as the 2020 campaign got postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It will include the rights to PFL’s regular season, playoff and championship events along with archive content and original programming.
