Prime Video spent November well. They hosted some high-buzz shows but the winners have to be the licensed movies, particularly Ponniyin Selvan 1 and Kantara. Both movies were massive blockbusters at the box office and they were also appreciated at the OTT.
Thankfully Kantara didn’t get released on the Prime Video Store but rather started streaming regularly. So which movie reaped more views? Ponniyin Selvan 1 or Kantara?

If we consider views data then Kantara has already outperformed Ponniyin Selvan 1. Both movies were initially released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam only.
If you see the charts then Kantara is the fourth most trending movie on Prime Video globally while PS1 was usually in the bottom four at its best.
Ponniyin Selvan 1 got widespread appreciation outside India as well but Kantara had a significantly greater buzz. Especially in Northern India.
Many people claim to be watching the movie in the original Kannada language thus contributing to views. Whatever the case may be, both PS1 and Kantara are exceptional cinematic experiences and need to be celebrated.
