Pushpa vs Spider-Man NWH: Which Movie Will Rule in India?

MCU’s upcoming instalment, Spider-Man No Way Home, and Allu Arjun’s forthcoming mass entertainer, Pushpa: The Rise, are ready to collide with each other. Indian box office pundits have predicted that this clash will be one of the biggest clashes ever. We have Spidey dealing with the aftermath of Doctor Strange’s botched spell that results in the accidental opening of the Multiverse. On the other hand, Allu Arjun is coming with a bang with his most expensive project ever. His movie’s production budget has crossed the 250-crore barrier. Which one will rule the Indian box office? Let’s find out!

How about we do not talk about NWH’s hype? How about that? It seems like the craze for this movie has broken all limits. Spider-Man is one of the most prominent superhero figures ever. It was Sam Raimi’s first Spidey movie that revived Marvel Studios. And 19 years later, here we are on the verge of witnessing the biggest live-action battle of web-slinger. All five supervillains, Doctor Octopus, Electro, Green Goblin, Sandman, and Lizard, from their previous appearances, are coming to grace our screens once again. The stakes for Peter Parker can never go higher than this.

Now, let’s turn our attention to Allu Arjun! His last project, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, collected more than 260 crores at the box office. He is also quite famous in North Indian territories. And his upcoming action thriller is one of the most expensive movies in the history of the South Indian industry. We believe any average moviegoer can figure out which movie will reign supreme in southern parts of our country. However, will Pushpa be a box office success? We cannot just ignore the ongoing COVID pandemic. Plus, the movie needs to earn at least 600 crores to be declared a success.

In Northern India, a majority of cinephiles has devoured every bit of the Spidey mania. Some movie theatres there have opened 5 A.M shows just for the MCU entry. Currently, Avengers Endgame holds the record for the highest online ticket pre-sales in 24 hours in India. But this record is expected to be shattered by the upcoming Spidey instalment. That’s why Pushpa will have a hard time surviving against No Way Home.

It is not like NWH will go down easily in South India. A theatre in Hyderabad, Prasads, has sold more than 8500 tickets of the movie worth Rs. 23 lakhs. There is also Ariesplex in Trivandrum that has sold nearly 7k tickets worth Rs. 17 lakhs.

On the whole, we can say that Spider-Man No Way Home has a better chance of winning the box office battle against Pushpa: The Rise. Stay tuned for more updates.
