English novelist Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley immortalized the Gothic genre when she authored the classic novel ‘Frankenstein’, which is also commonly known as The Modern Prometheus. The first example of science fiction in popular culture, the novel has been adapted onto the big screen multiple times.
Most recently, it was Zelda Williams’ ‘Lisa Frankenstein’! Starring Kathryn Newton, Cole Sprouse, Liza Soberano, Jenna Davis, Carla Gugina, and more in leading roles, the film revolves around a misunderstood teenager and a reanimated Victorian corpse brought back to life through a series of (un)fortunately horrific yet comical circumstances.
The duo then embark on an enjoyable journey together in pursuit of love, happiness, and well, a few missing body parts.
The quirky horror comedy, Williams’ directorial debut, also contains a tribute to her late father and veteran actor Robin Williams. Moreover, the film takes place in the same fictional universe as Jennifer’s Body, a cult classic slasher film.
Having released to good reviews from the audience and a slightly more mixed bag from critics, the film is now all ready to drop on JioCinema for Indian audiences! The title will be available for streaming exclusively on the platform from August 9.
Do not forget to catch the title for an intriguing watch!
