While a few days ago R. Madhavan himself said that his highly acclaimed film ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ is not going to hit the OTT any time soon, Prime Video India took to social media today to announced the film’s release date on the platform.
‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ premiered at Cannes Film Festival in May earlier this year and then released in theatres on 1st July. The film has since been receiving great praise from the audience and critics alike and has been lauded for its intent, performances and execution. Unfortunately the great word of mouth coupled with the promotions from team Rocketry could not bring audience in large numbers to the theatres.
And now it’s finally coming to OTT where the film is expected to be receive a grand welcome. But is it what the filmmakers who put their everything in making the film really want rather than the film being a success in theatres, garnering a huge box office collection?
Obviously no, but then there’s not much of a choice given the unpredictable viewing preferences of today’s audience who seem to have siloed the films they like in theatres and those on digital platforms. ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ seems to have fallen into the latter category.
Written, directed and produced by R. Madhavan who also plays the lead role, ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ is a biographical drama based on the life of former ISRO scientist and aerospace engineer Nambi Narayanan. He was accused in the ISRO espionage case and was later exonerated but all this took a great toll on the man of science and the film beautifully depicts his life story.
‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ is all set to premiere on Prime Video India in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam on 26th July, 2022.
