Okay. Multiple announcements. UV Creations just dropped a tweet, with a link for a pre-teaser of their upcoming big budget romance movie – Radhe Shyam. For those who don’t know, Radhe Shyam is the Telugu star Prabhas’ upcoming big budget project. In the same tweet, UV Creations also gave the following announcement – “Get ready for the biggest love announcement of the decade! 14th Feb, save the date! ”. This not-so-cryptic declaration leads us to believe that the movie’s release date should be officially announced on Valentine’s Day. After the hype for this movie slowly lost traction due to Covid last year, is this a sign that the hype train for Radhe Shyam is now back on track?
Radhe Shyam was undergoing a lot of hype previously, back in early 2020 (during shooting) but the film production got put on hold due to the coronavirus outbreak. Despite the setback, the production house regularly teased the Indian audience, with multiple posters featuring the lead actors Prabhas and Pooja Hedge, but the build-up for the movie eventually died down. Of course, some very recent direct-to-OTT news got Radhe Shyam back into the spotlight again (read here), but that was quickly squashed as just speculation. This UV Creations announcement about Radhe Shyam though, should set the flame of promotion ablaze again.
This will be Prabhas’ first romantic movie since his 2010 flick Darling – that’s almost 11 years of the rebel star not portraying a “loverboy” on screen. The Radha Krishna Kumar directed rom-com will not be working with the budget size of Prabhas’ previous blockbusters like The Bahubali films or Saaho, but it will be significantly more than the aforementioned Darling. The released pre-teaser is short but good enough to draw in the pan-Indian crowd, most of whom should be Prabhas fans. Check out the announcement tweet and the pre-teaser at the end of this article.
Sachin Khedekar, Priyadarshi Pulikonda, Bhagyashree, Murli Sharma, Kunaal Roy Kapoor, Riddhi Kumar, Sasha Chettri and Sathyan will star alongside Prabhas and Pooja Hedge. Director Radha Krishna Kumar also wrote the script for Radhe Shyam. Justin Prabhakaran has worked on the music while Academy Award winner Resul Pookutty has joined the crew as sound designer.
