Radhika Apte, Keerthy Suresh To Lead YRF Period Thriller ‘Akka’

In the streaming space, Indian entertainment giant Yash Chopra Films aka YRF is fresh off the heels after the phenomenal success and widespread appreciation of its first-ever OTT project – the recently released Netflix series ‘The Railway Men’, which was based on the 1984 Bhopal gas Tragedy. And now, YRF Entertainment – the streaming arm of the reputed production house is all set for another show titled ‘Akka’.

‘Akka’ web series is being described as a massively mounted period revenge thriller and it will be headlined by the talented duo Keerthy Suresh (Dasara) and Radhika Apte (Sacred Games, Andhadhun). Although the plot details of ‘Akka’ are currently being kept under the wraps, it is known that both these actresses will be pitted against each other in the show. ‘Akka’ is being written and directed by Dharmaraj Shetty in his directorial debut.

Other than ‘The Railway Men’ and the above-mentioned series ‘Akka’, YRF Entertainment is also developing more OTT projects including ‘Mandala Murders’, which was described as an edge-of-the-seat, multi-season crime thriller series. The massively mounted show will feature Vaani Kapoor in the lead role and will be directed by Gopi Puthran (of ‘Mardaani 2’ fame).

Another one is a made-for-OTT movie titled ‘Vijay 69’ and features veteran Indian actor Anupam Kher in the lead role. is being touted as a fun-filled, slice-of-life movie which revolves around the story of a 69-year-old man (Anupam Kher), who decides to participate in a triathlon competition. The movie is being directed by Akshay Roy, who had previously directed another YRF rom-com film ‘Meri Pyaari Bindu’ starring Ayushmann Khurrana.

So, ‘Akka’ starring Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte is going to be YRF’s third web series project and the show went on floors just a few days back.
