The trailer for Karan Kandhari’s BAFTA nominated film ‘Sister Midnight’ is out and it’s a Radhika Apte showcase throughout. After having its world premiere at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival’s Director’s Fortnight section, ‘Sister Midnight’ wis now heading for release in the US in May, 2025.
The trailer for ‘Sister Midnight’ follows Uma who comes to Mumbai after an arranged marriage and it tunes out to be life changing for her. She spirals into darkness as her spineless husband watches his wife morph into a disturbing and ruthless figure and unleash her feral side that makes her look absolutely crazy.
But there’s a whole other situation going in ‘Sister Midnight’ than what is seen in the trailer and this dark comedy has that eerie vibe that keeps you intrigued throughout. The trailer is fast paced and teases the audience in perfect amount without revealing too much.
Above all it’s Radhika Apte that steals the limelight. She is at the centre of everything and gets herself into Uma’s character so incredibly well that you will find hard to distinguish between real and reel.
‘Sister Midnight’ feels raw and real in setting with an ominous undertone that actually is quite gripping. Moreover, Mumbai seemingly plays an important character in the movie where everyone is kind of sad amidst all the hustle and bustle in a city that never sleeps.
Karan Kandhari makes his directorial debut with ‘Sister Midnight’ that stars Radhika Apte, Ashok Pathak, Dev Raaz, Chhaya Kadam and Smita Tambe in prominent roles. Interpol frontman Paul Banks makes his debut as a composer with ‘Sister Midnight’ which will release in cinemas in the US in May, 2025.
