In a recent interview, Varun Dhawan has said that Citadel India will have its own title.
Citadel is a big budget Amazon Prime Video show that branches on stories from several countries for spin-offs, or stories to expand the universe of the show. The first season of Citadel premiered this year and did not receive a very welcoming response. It starred Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden in the lead role and despite a huge budget and a star cast, the show failed to impress the audiences.
So, for the second season, Joe Russo has decided to helm the show for himself. Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, directors of films like ‘Avengers: End Game’ are the showrunners of Citadel. The various seasons will be based on countries like Spain, India, Mexico etc.
The Indian part of Citadel is going to be directed by Raj and DK, the filmmaker duo of ‘Guns And Gulaabs’ fame. It will be starring Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth in leading roles.
Varun Dhawan is said to have gone through rigorous training for the role. The actor said, “We have our own title, which will be announced soon.” The names of the shows from other countries have not been revealed too.
Reportedly, Stunt men and action choreographers have been brought from Hong-Kong and Los Angeles. There is a good focus on hand to hand combat and weapon proficiency. India is going to see on of the massive actioners of the world and with such trusted directors on board, the show is sure to create a huge buzz.
