Following the recent trend of direct-to-digital release, Hansal Mehta’s ‘Chhalang’ is gearing up for release on Amazon Prime Video. The film is a dark social comedy starring Rajkummar Rao and Nushrat Bharucha in lead roles.
Based on socially relevant topic, Chhalang was originally named Turram Khan. The film was meant to release in theatres but the ongoing pandemic situation has made makers turn towards OTT like many others.
As told by Aseem Arora in an interview to a media agency, the film’s story is based on sports and education and how they are both relevant for a child. He also said that it’s a coming of age drama where Rao essays the role of a physical trainer in a school in a small town of Haryana. Revealing the plot further, he said that Rao’s character isn’t serious about the job initially but an incident changes his perspective altogether and what he does next forms the crux of the story.
The release date for Chhalang is still under wraps and might soon be announced by the makers.
