Amazon MiniTV is doing quite a good job in producing small scale miniseries. And now they are stepping out of their rom-com comfort zone to try something new. The official teaser for ‘Rakshak: India’s Braves’ is out, and it will be an action thriller.
‘Rakshak’ tells the story of Lieutenant Triveni Singh who endangers his own life to save 300 people taken hostage in Jammu Station. The teaser is promising and it looks like the show will be quite good for small scale productions. There are some problems and roughness in the execution, but they can be ignored. After all, it is a free streaming service.
Rakshak is based on a true event. When terrorists attacked the Jammu Railway station on January 2, 2004. Lt. Triveni Singh was posted there and he showed great bravery in charging the terrorists with all might. He died there in the combat and was given the posthumous Ashok Chakra, which is India’s Highest peacetime award.
Looks like there will be more seasons of Rakshak and there will be various stories of bravery told in the next seasons. ‘Rakshak: India’s Braves’ teases the possibility of multiple stories. But for now, it will be the story of Lt. Triveni Singh. The cast includes actors like Varun Mitra, Kanika Mann, Mrinal Naval, Mrinal Kulkarni, and Mohit Chauhan and it is directed by Akshay Choubey. Varun Mitra is known for working in Saas Bahu Aur Flamingo, Guilty Minds and more. ‘Rakshak’ is a promising show that will find its audiences soon.
