Homegrown streaming giant SonyLIV has joined hands with Telugu star Rana Daggubati’s production company, Spirit Media, to bring an interesting historical action – drama series for Indian audiences. Titled ‘Lords Of The Deccan’, the series will be in the Telugu language.
The San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) launches tomorrow in the US, and it is the perfect occasion to announce new content for entertainment giants. Grabbing the opportunity to make a splash at the Comic Con, SonyLIV and Rana Daggubati plan to announce their new collab show ‘Lords Of The Deccan’ at San Diego.
SonyLIV’s ‘Lords Of The Deccan’ is a historical action-drama series, which is adapted from award-winning Indian bestseller novel, ‘Lords of The Deccan: Southern India from Chalukyas to Cholas’, written by Anrirudh Kanisetti. The series documents takes the birth of the Chalukyas, the most prominent South Indian dynasty, which has shaped the history of southern India.
The resounding success of Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan film franchise has rekindled interest in the royal dynasties of South India. Ponniyin Selvan documented the history of the Cholas. ‘Lords Of The Deccan’ will capture the history of the Chalukyas. SonyLIV’s upcoming Telugu series will be quite enlightening for viewers, given that the rest of India has very little knowledge of the dynasties of the South. Theirs is a largely undocumented history, and SonyLIV definitely holds a potential winner in its hands, in the form of ‘Lords Of The Deccan’.
There’s no information on the cast, crew and plot of the series yet. Stay tuned to Binged for further details on the cast, crew, plot and release date for ‘Lords Of The Deccan’.
