Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt’s Brahmastra Gets September Release Date

Yesterday, the motion poster for the highly anticipated Bollywood film, ‘Brahmastra‘ dropped on social media yesterday and fans lost their minds over it (on Twitter mainly). However, it turns out that there is more news about the movie; the superhero film will make its way to theatres next year on September – September 9th 2022. Finally, after five years since the film was announced, we now have a release date (one likely not to get postponed this time around). But why the five-year gap?

Well, the film was initially supposed to release on 15th August 2019. However, that release date got pushed to Christmas 2019 and again to Summer 2020 – because of some pending VFX work & shoots. Eventually, the filmmakers announced back in February 2020 that the final release date will now be 4th December 2020. Of course, due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions in India at the time, the movie release was forced to be delayed indefinitely. And finally, barely an hour ago, official reports have come out stating that the film will be releasing in theatres on September 9th 2022 (as mentioned earlier).

The film is releasing so late because theatres are likely to allow 100 per cent occupancy at that point in time. With a budget of Rs. 300 crores, the film will need all the help it can get in turning a profit. The film will be available for viewing in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. With this latest announcement, we expect the marketing team behind the film to either re-release the poster with the new release date added to it or give us a new poster with the release date included. For now, we will have to wait and see.
